Teri Genovese Photography Blog bio picture

in a nutshell:

I am hopelessly sentimental and love creating art by documenting the beauty I perceive in life.  I live for yoga, hiking, weekend road trips, a good book, keeping a daily journal, and anything chocolate.  :)

As a Los Angeles based freelance photographer, I specialize in documentary children's portraits and fine art photography.  I received a BA in photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2003.  My work has since been published in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Parent Magazine, Los Angeles Times.com, Chicago Public Radio.com, and countless Chicago Children's Museum publications.

inspiration:

There is a quiet beauty all around us every day.  It is so often overlooked, but magical when seen.  Photography is a gift that has always inspired me to truly see and appreciate life’s subtleties… those heart-wrenchingly beautiful moments in everyday life that make you pause and feel utterly grateful.

Those are the moments I strive to capture...

Monthly Archives: February 2008

the last week of something wonderful.

it’s never a good time to say goodbye to a place you love, to a family, to an era. after 35 years of business, santa monica gymnastics center will close its doors. i have spent two thirds of my life dedicated to gymnastics (whether as a gymnast or an instructor) and i wouldn’t...

February 20, 2008 - 1:37 pm The WordSmith from Nantucket - Gorgeous photographs!

It's a shame not to have shared SMGC with you and the current staff, longer. You, Heather, and Robyn and Lemi (you newbies) have been great! Don't know if we can recreate a similar experience at LASG.

February 21, 2008 - 9:43 pm Erin - Nice Teri!
^^ I'm in a picture! Yay.
Yah, the whole thing is really depressing.... =(

February 24, 2008 - 1:30 am The WordSmith from Nantucket - It was sad and sweet, tonight.

Esther made my eyes moist with her goodbye. Not sure why hers, and not others. Something in the way she approached me just hammered home; and she's one of those whom I have known for a long time, there. The feeling happened again when I was going through Isabel's origami giftbox with the Hershey's kisses and memory quotes.

February 24, 2008 - 1:00 pm Teri - yes, it definitely was bittersweet. the memory quotes were adorable, i'm glad you shared some with us. i loved every minute of yesterday and it's hard to believe we will be teaching at LASG this week while our gym empties out. i'm so grateful for all the times we've had.

February 25, 2008 - 2:44 am The WordSmith from Nantucket - My photos are already up, and a brief, upbeat post.

Thanks for copies of your photos. They are very cool.

February 15, 2008 - 11:58 pm The WordSmith from Nantucket - It's an amazingly effective video. Unlike Senator Clinton's. Have you seen that one? If I were working the Obama campaign, I'd buy airtime for Senator Clinton's video. Good Lord...

February 20, 2008 - 2:23 pm Kate - wow, this was cool. :) Thanks for sharing!
